It's really Grand

Too tired tonight, so I'm just going to post pictures....see if you can figure out where we are.

Well, you guessed it - it's the Grand Canyon.

Click on 'em to see 'em bigger....

This is the view from our room in the Kachina Lodge.

A couple of random shots from overlooks. Might have been some easy hiking involved.

Sunset from Hopi Point. Very popular spot.

Desert and Dam

Headed out for Hoover Dam...It's hot here in the desert. It's a dry heat, but so is an oven.

Still, there's a lot of water in the desert. We've got Herbert Hoover to thank for that. And he invented the vacuum cleaner too!

A big bathtub plug. I'm glad we got to drive over the top of it. I don't think you'll be able to next year...

Did you know you can't bring a pocket knife inside the Visitor's Center? Or a bunch of grapes? But you can take all the photos you want. And you can fling yourself over the parapet if you like. There's no fence to keep you from doing that. You will have to pay $7 to park, first.

Thank goodness the terrorists haven't won yet.

We chose to stay on top. After all, there's always dessert to look forward to...

Williams, Arizona is much cooler than Kingman, and there's trees here.

Out the windows to your left, it's five thousand feet to the bottom of the Grand Canyon

What an interesting flight...I got to sit next to the baby. And the flight was bumpier than usual. But we did get a nice view of the Grand Canyon on our way into Las Vegas.

They actually had the size car we requested at the rental place. We even had a choice:

Then it was on to lovely Henderson and a night's stay at the local inn. Best desk clerk ever...

Part of my new car, or all the parts of my new car. Posed, as is tradition, in front of the local train station. This one is the Southern's Chattanooga Terminal Station, known for good or ill as the "Choo-Choo"...
